Patterns and beliefs
- MapFeelings: five forces and what they tell youFeelings are not a disturbance to get rid of, but forces with a task. Each of the five basic feelings responds to an interpretation of its own: anger to “That’s wrong,” sadness to “That’s a pity,” fear to “That’s terrible,” joy to “That’s beautiful,” and shame to “Something’s wrong with me.” If you know them, you can use them instead of being driven by them or avoiding them.
- AttitudeNonviolent Communication (NVC)Nonviolent Communication (NVC), developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg, turns our attention past judgments and accusations to what moves people: their feelings and needs. Its basic model has four steps, but at its core it is an attitude. Robert Gonzales deepened it with processes that are less about speaking than about sensing.
- MapTransactional analysisTransactional analysis (TA) is a model of personality and communication founded by Eric Berne. It describes the inner states from which we think, feel, and act, how conversations succeed or go off the rails, and how patterns learned early on help write the story of our lives. Its goal is autonomy: being able to choose freely instead of reacting according to an old script.
